Perhaps the most significant transformation taking place at AKU is the planned establishment of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Once completed, this 1,100-acre campus located north of Karachi will encompass undergraduate liberal arts and graduate programmes in a residential community environment. The establishment of this campus represents a major step towards becoming a comprehensive university.
Aga Khan University, chartered in 1983 as Pakistan’s first private international university, is committed to the provision of education, research and health care of international standard relevant to Pakistan and the region. The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital has well-equipped investigative services and provides state-of-the-art clinical facilities.
The Department of Oncology offers comprehensive cancer care services to all patients. The services are provided through multidisciplinary teams. Infrastructure facilities include a daycare setting dedicated to oncology patients. Outpatient facilities include clinics of Medical Oncology, Haematology, Paediatric Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Palliative Care. The Department has 16 full-time faculty with a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate education and research. Residency programmmes are offered in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Clinical Haematology Oncology, and a fellowship programme in Paediatric Oncology.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent will have an independent consultant status and undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and specified administrative activities.
Requirements:
Candidates must have completed a structured postgraduate training program and possess FCPS, MRCP, American Boards or equivalent qualification.
Applicants for Associate Professor should have at least eight years of teaching / research experience in a HEC recognized University with five years’ post-terminal experience of teaching and a minimum of 10 research publications in journals recognized jointly by HEC and PMDC, with at least 4 of these publications in the last five years. Applicants for Assistant Professor should have at least two years’ experience as Senior Instructor or equivalent.
